Discover the new textile revolution – T-shirts made of wood! You think that's not possible? We'll be happy to prove you wrong. Admittedly, a T-shirt made of wood sounds a bit weird at first. How can a hard piece of wood be turned into a fluffy T-shirt? But the finished wooden T-shirt has nothing to do with the splintery surface of a tree. Quite the opposite! Lyocell, the fibers obtained from wood, are absolutely soft and even outshine organic cotton with their unique wearing properties. Find out what other advantages this sustainable fabric has to offer here at Hemden.de.
T-shirts made from wood fibers
It’s time for environmentally conscious fashion shirts made from wood.
T-shirts made from wood fibers combine contemporary materials with modern design and unique wearing properties. You don't have to do without anything! The naturally sourced fabric is soft, stretchy and outperforms polyester, cotton and even organic cotton. The extremely light fabric regulates the body climate, absorbs moisture extremely quickly and releases it to the outside. Thanks to the antibacterial fabric quality, the wood T-shirts are also ideal for allergy sufferers.
The many advantages of wooden T-shirts
The breathable properties make the lyocell T-shirt the perfect leisure shirt. Cooling in summer and warming in winter, these environmentally friendly garments can be worn at any time of year. The shirt made from wood fibers is also recommended as sportswear. The test shows: Unsightly sweat stains appear on a polyester sports shirt after just a few minutes and the body temperature shoots up.
A T-shirt made of wood perfectly balances the body temperature and releases moisture and odors to the outside. Not only will you look fresher after a strenuous day, but with breathable wood shirts, the smell of sweat doesn't stand a chance.
Another advantage of the sustainably produced wood T-shirt is its incredible durability. Lyocell is extremely robust and tear-resistant, making it perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a piece of clothing for a long time.
Lyocell – Reduce your ecological footprint
By purchasing a short-sleeved shirt made from Lyocell, you are actively helping to reduce the ecological footprint of the textile industry. The organic fiber from sustainably managed forests is produced in an environmentally friendly way and is biodegradable.
The manufacturing process is transparent and in most cases completely chemical-free. The wood is first chopped into small pieces and soaked in water. The water is then removed from the detached cellulose under high pressure and, in a final step, the remaining cellulose is sieved and placed in a spinning bath. The resulting fibers are then processed into yarns and used in the production of T-shirts.
What wood-based textile fibers are there for T-shirts?
The three most common textile fibers made from wood are Lyocell, Tencel and Modal. They are obtained from the cellulose fibers of beech and eucalyptus wood. In addition to the sustainability effect, the fibers make the T-shirts light and airy and are therefore particularly recommended for summer clothing. In addition, fabrics made from Lyocell, Tencel and Modal have a silky and shimmering sheen.
